first video from Rezrider

I've been playing around with video for a few months now and finally have something halfway decent to share. Still lots to learn and a long way to go to being really good but off to a good start.
Enjoy.

How did the desert get so green? Good to hear from you again. I tried to send photos of the old strip at Tohatchi, but I don't think it worked. All grown up with vegetation, including the old road pavement.

The table would fit in a Maule, but no, it was already there.

The video editing was very good. What software are we using? Cams etc etc....

Re: first video from Rezrider

Nice Video.

I've flown over Red Creek several times and hope to land there at some point. The only overflight when I had the time to land, the winds were gusting to about 25 kts and OAT was 90F so I moved on.

The surrounding terrain looked to me to be much steeper than the video projects. I've noticed that effect in some of my videos, too.

Great first video!

What did you use for the rotating time lapse?

I don't know what he used, but what I've used for stuff like that is an egg timer with a gopro mount on the top...

I use a Garmin Virb, first generation so it was on sale for less than half the original price. I have downloaded Cyberlink Power Director and it is great so far. Some parts of the software is really intuitive and other parts not so much.
There is still a long way to go but time will produce better results.
Evan, the egg timer panning time lapse gizmo was found on Amazon for $25 and has been fun to play around with for effect. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_ ... time+lapse

Blackrock, the terrain around red creek can be pretty high depending on which direction you are coming from. You want to be mindful of a go around to the west if need be. The winds are an issue at times, especially in the spring since you need to land west and take off east.
It's a tricky strip that has claimed some airplanes in the past.

Re: first video from Rezrider

Great vid RR, but I kept wanting to stomp on the right rudder while watching the landing and takeoff sections. I guess the camera is mounted out on the left wing. I almost broke my computer desk trying to get you centered on the runway. With all the saguaro cactus I guess this spot is down in Arizona. I don't remember running into any of those puppies while I was in NM. All that sunshine looked good. I hope you put your new videographer skills to work on your future adventures!

Re: first video from Rezrider

Yeah the camera is on the left strut and seems far out there, it makes it look like I'm running through the bushes!
I found that if I angle it dead straight then I get the prop disc on the side of the picture, I have to crop it out later.

Hey RR. Nice video. I love Red Creek. Me and Shortfielder camped there some years ago.

Cheers...Rob

De nada mi amigo nuevo. I'm just glad you're finding my input useful instead of trying to find me in a dark alley with a hammer! :-)
