Fish Lake

Anyone been in Fish Lake yet this year? Wondering if it's dry.

I talked to a guy the other day while at JC and I recall him saying that it was really bumpy in his Husky. He didn't mention if it was wet or not. At least you know its bumpy!

Re: Fish Lake

There was a lot of snow up there before it started to melt this year. Easily 10' or more. This image was from April of 2009.

Re: Fish Lake

Hey Mr. Helix, are those your ski tracks? If so let's talk. I'm thinking of skis for my 170 but everyone is telling me scary stories.

Flew over Fish Lake yesterday. Still standing water on lake end for first quarter of runway. Hopefully this beautiful weather this week will help.

Great photo, thanks.

Slainte,

No scary stories. You just need to brush up on your winter camping skills..... :D Ski flying is some of the most fun you can have. And, some of the hardest work you'll ever find.

Re: Fish Lake

Has anyone noted any significant changes in the runway surface compared to past years? ie: washouts, ruts accross the runway etc. that were not there last year?

I'm thinkin' that you won't need skis :D

It's dry enough. Use the upper 2/3 if you are worried. I am generally more concerned about moose, horses, and mosquitoes than I am about ruts. I take a heavy 206 in there a couple times a year.
