Flo Flying
Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Landed on a new hilltop last weekend. California is already transitioning from green to brown, but isn't that view awesome?

Beautiful !!! Livin' the dream. Many of us are jealous as hell

I'm guessing a lot of us would love to see more!
Now how the hell are you going to get those little sticky foxtails out of your socks?

Well, lets see if I can flunk another WAG at an approximate location from the second photo.
I would guess somewhere sorta S. E. of Hollister - looking in the direction of the Pacific coast - with one of two or both fault lines at the base of the Gavilan Hills across the valley. The San Andreas and or the Southern Calaveras / Paicines faults.
Ok - How far off this time?

You guys are good, it is around Gonzales in the Salinas valley. Didn't realize there are this many people around this area. I am flying out of a ranch south of Hollister.

I've wondered about landing at Panoche. Understand the gliders use it. Were they friendly to a plane with a propeller showing up?

Fiddler, I was told by a friend that respectful visitors are welcome, and I was met by a very friendly property manager.
As maules.com mentioned, there is a power line on the west end of the runway.

Nice to see the Panoche Inn is open. Last time I was through (3+ years ago) the retired couple had it up for sale and its future was in some doubt. What a nice place, with interesting visitors and locals streaming through.

Landed in a field of a ranch. I have been there before on foot to inspect for holes and rocks and we set up a windsock.

The takeoff.
Stopped at King City KIC for fuel and had some fun in the headwind.
