Floatplane Migration Article - Midwest Flyer

Here is a good article Woody wrote about our trips to and from Minnesota and Florida, Woody is a DPE from Wisconson and he helps me shuttle the floaters as a instructor. This is our eighth season in Florida and it has been a lot of fun meeting lots of new friends. We are leaving with the C172- C180 & C182 amphib April 28th back to our summer home - Surfside SPB. Anyone wanting to do the fall migration south back to the Cherry Pocket, we leave the last week of October with 3 floatplanes.

Re: Floatplane Migration Article - Midwest Flyer

I took my first seaplane lesson with Brian a few weeks ago while I was visiting a friend. I had an excellent time and Brian is a wonderful pilot. He even gave a BackcountryPilot discount. Thanks again Brian it definitely opens up a new world when utilizing the water, and for those who don't know Cherry Pocket is a party in itself.

Re: Floatplane Migration Article - Midwest Flyer

Thanks Trebor, I have been playing in that narrow winding (Dead River) some more with a few others and last weekend with the airboats, definitely easier in the airboat, however my buddy got tossed from his own boat and he was driving it??? Did you figure out how to post the video of your river landings, maybe YouTube link? See you either in Mn or FL to finish your SES rating.

Flap your wings on the way over Brian (if your are fueling at Shelbyville again), I'll be the one in the green tractor.

With tracks on plowing snow off the fields? Lots of overflow in Dryden this season i would guess. We have been fueling at Grand River KY and then direct to George's SPB in Le Claire IA to commence our happy hour! I will get my green machine out of the barn also but to work up deer food plots, no cattle and haying anymore.

Re: Floatplane Migration Article - Midwest Flyer

Nice article Brian. There's a nice little cove about 10 miles east of Grand Rivers that you can see from I-24 where they load barges with grain. Always thought it would be a cool place for a floatplane. Might come in handy if the waves are too big over by the dam.
