Flowage Fees at the county airport.

So, at KSMN, Salmon Idaho county airport,if you bring out your plastic gas jugs to fuel your plane, the airport wants to collect a flowage fee per Gal. The rate is $.25/Gal.

Do any of you pay Flowage Fees?

Re: Flowage Fees at the county airport.

The FBO at my airport leases the pumps & tanks from the airport owner (Port of Pt Townsend), and pays a flowage as part of the lease agreement. Never heard of a flowage fee charged for self-supplied fuel.
Is there a fuel supplier on the airport that you would be "cheating" out of a sale?
Is this flowage fee spelled out in your hangar lease or whatever legal arrangement you have with the airport?
I have heard of airports which banned self-fueling but never of one that wanted to charge a flowage fee.

So, if I ride my bike into town and eat lunch and come back with 10 gallons of mogas, I owe $2.50.? Not in this lifetime. Once, if at all, never happen twice. Not the money, the concept.

If they accept federal funding they are required to allow self servicing of your aircraft with fuel of your preference. Ref AC 150/5190-7. Is its private then I guess you'd be out of luck. Only way I'm gonna pay a flowage fee is if they start checking hours flown and charge all the other guys who fly somewhere else and purchase fuel

Ok fine, then let the county commissioner or an employee of the county/airport climb up the ladder and dump the gas in. You should get something for the charge, climbing the ladder while humping almost 40 pounds of gas for $1.25 seems fair to me. :D

I'm with you. When I tied down at Merrill field I always heard they wouldn't let you fuel from your own tank or jugs. I always shot across the street and got av gas at Suburban propane and pumped into my plane sitting in my tie down in sight of the tower. Nobody ever said anything to me. If they would have I'm not sure what I would have done but that would have been the last months rent on that tie down.

Re: Flowage Fees at the county airport.

At KPDT there are flowage fees of $0.05 per gallon of gas and $ 0.06 per gal of oil. This is charged by the FBOs . A new fuel provider explained that was part of the OK to start. When auto fuel(mogas) is self pumped the the fee is to be payed the the airport. Still have not figured how to account for the oil?. There are restrictions on fuel storage and where fueling can be done.
Will have to ask if the uav's are paying there part.
