Flutter on my vacuum gauge needle

Good evening. Just put a new panel in my plane and after hooking everything up and flying it, everything was fine except I had a little flutter in the needle on my vacuum gauge. the plane is a '56 180 w/original O-470-K. I have a wet vacuum pump and what appears to be the original vacuum regulator. Wondered if any of you had ever had a similar problem and what you did to fix it. Thanks Gary :(

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Definately an unbalanced prop. Maybe see if she can have a friend put one on the other side.

A lose Vacuum hose can cause a flutter. If you took a vacuum line loose I would look in this area. If that doesn't work Check your new Prop guard, it could be causeing an unbalanced effect.

There is a plastic piston in the regulator that over a period of time will wear. I replaced one in my Cessna regulator a few years ago and a similar problem disappeared. The safety wired screw on top of the regulator adjusts a spring that pushes against this piston. And that in turn adjusts your vacuum pressure. If this piston is worn it will flutter and cause your pressure to do the same. I suppose a broken spring or debris in the regulator could cause the same problem too. Some unfiltered air pases through the regulator.
