This is a HUGE problem for recreation users of many waterways and rivers in the Midwest. This is an invasive species of Asian Carp that jump and startle at the sound of approaching boats and engines. Currently they are trying to prevent them from getting into the Great lakes. DNR has something like 6 sets of electric underwater fences, as a barrier to Lake Michigan from a river/canal near Chicago.
