Flying and Skiing

Well, drawing to the end of a good week here in the deep South. 5 days of Skiing and flying. We're just at the end of a large high pressure system 1040hPa/Millibars (30.71 inches of Hg), which our Airways service tells us was the most intense high pressure system on the globe in the last couple of days.
That's meant it's been great winter flying and skiing conditions. Dry, chalky snow, good for a couple of hours skiing before you have to go to do some work, or flying for the remainder of the day. Clear Blue skies, and not much wind. Not all weeks are like this.
A few varied flights this week. Firstly check for a newly repaired fuel control unit for the 185, flying my parents and their four friends into the hills and back. Finally a couple of flights into some strips, to make up for the time out of the air while the fuel control was getting worked on.
Today was going to be a flight up to Mount Cook/Aoraki (approx. 2 hrs round trip), but with a changing weather system, turning Nor' West, Lenticulars, and flying up the lee side of the mountain range, discretion took the better part, and I went for a walk instead!

I'm jealous, man! 100+ temps here and just about the last patch of snow has melted off of Slide Mountain. I can't wait for winter to return to the northern hemisphere.
