once back at the ranch I flew up towards the top, near where the tower was I had been working on a few days earlier. Seeing a 4 wheeler and a pickup parked by an outbuilding, I figured that area was as good as place as any to set down. Plenty of room with a minor slope (especially compared to the two earlier sites) I made a plain jane approach, landing and taxied up to where I now saw Dave. Some people are scared or at least apprehensive around airplanes, so I shut it before getting too close to him, figuring he had probably not been around many aircraft up close and personal.Long story short: turns out he is a THIRTY NINE YEAR Air Force Vet, now retired, and did forward air control! Going into hot spots all around the globe and directing our aerial resources to best advantage, right up close to the action. The C-130 was an aircraft he spent a lot of time around, among others I'm sure. We were both in the middle of our work days, me waiting for crane work to call,
