Flying job?

A young pilot I know is looking for work. He was doing banner towing and has significant tail wheel experience. If anyone has a lead on something please let me know and I will forward it to him. He is interested in crop dusting and is a good hand besides being a pilot.

Heck, I've got quite a bit of T/W time, CFI in helicopters and planes currently flying a Cub, DHC-2 and C-185 and living in SW WA. I'd crawl to work each day for a worthwhile job flying a tail dragger in a year or so when my stint in the military (my real job) is done.

Guys are gettin' old and gettin' out of my biz these days. Get with me if you want I'll guide you around a bit if you want. You'll have to leave olympia though, at least to work for four months a summer or so.

Since the topic is sort of up, how does one go about getting into pipeline or powerline patrol? I'm in SW Ohio and am sort of looking for something fun when I get my commercial sometime around the end of this year. Thanks!

You need to talk to Patrol Guy about that one. He is the town expert on that work and dose it every week.

Are you talking about the 660 I had in Reno? That one is at it's new home in Nebraska. It has a twin that gathers dust in my repair station while the Morroccan Gov't waffles. I have no idea what will happen with that one. The one in Reno was the deal as it wasn't a new airplane.

Lowflyin. - Actually, what I always thought I'd like to do was be a duster! I use to have the chemical applicator card, but I let that go away.

I have another scout I've been slowly re-doing. It use to be a crop duster the first year of it's life. Sometimes think I'd do my own work, if I found the equipment. I do have a Sorensen belly tank that was used for a gas tank I've been saving. Do you ever run into any of that old stuff laying around?

I don't see much old equipment "behind the scenes" these days. If something is around it usually shows up at Barnstormers.
the guys my dad used to fly for in N.Y. had a Scout they used for mosquito work that was all set up with a sorensen kit. That was in 1980 or so though.

I'll definitely be putting pipeline patrol on the later in life list. It'll be next to ag on the list.

Towing banners looks like something I could get into. Last year a couple of Super Cubs stopped by my FBO. They were the funniest looking things ever, with no cowls, but bafulling that wrapped around the top of the cylinders. They also didn't have doors. In the back they had their Geico banners rolled up on their way to the next gig. It looked like a pretty fun job. I also saw a 180HP C150, now that was a site to see!

Ag is another thing I would like to do, but definitely down the road a little. I think I'll try to get about 500 hours of TW before I even think about it.

For that, you apply to Air Logistics, Inc.

Bring a Commercial helicopter certificate and LOTS of flight time in Bell 206 L models.
