60 yds?, That's a whole lot more power than my Beeman then. Have you ever heard of mini-sniping?

New Year

As the new year is just a few days away, here are some of my list of things to do.
1. Fly more (27hrs in 2007)
2.Float rating in the summer (kenmore air)
3.Try to visit different places in the plane
4.Give something up,so I can put gas in the plane
5.Enjoy whatever the new year brings

Happy New Year,c.

P.s.Take my wife, and traditional archery gear to South Africa and shoot a 58 inch Kudu bull.

Actually, this is a guess based on published chrono data for the Diana 48 in 22 cal. Might be a bit optimistic. It'll take a while for me to group small enough to even try it. 40-50 yds is probably more realistic. Yeah, mini sniping sounds like fun but the casings tend to get lost in 2 feet of snow. I'll also try 35 mm film canisters full of flour!

1. Fly/ donate more purposeful, helpful hours in 2008: medivacs, supply runs to roadless areas, airdrops, aerial photography, introductory flights to 1st-time passengers, Iditarod Airforce (???) etc...
2. More 170-assisted backcountry tele skiing
3. File more PIREPs
4. Get night currency back by flying t&g's under full moon on fresh snow (No lit fields nearby)
5. Spend a measurable fraction as much time actually flying, as messing around on BC Pilot
6. Use less smilies

Happy New Year

I like to fly alone so I can fly where and how I want to. But I've had more people ask me for a ride than I can remember.

So this year I am going to try to take more friends with me when I fly. I sometimes take for granted that I am a pilot and most people are not.

I plan on another trip to Graham ID. for another fly in ground squirel shoot but this time take a friend my age to help pay for gas instead of my son-in-law who you probably already guessed.

Do Johnson Creek fly in unless it interfears with a trip to Lake Powell with old high school buddies. Last year I missed the Powell trip for BCP fly in. I will try to get the Powell trip not to interfere.

I like the 182B cus I do not have to worry about loosing weight.

My engine has 1500 hrs on it now so I will try to nurse it for at least another year.

Try to convince my wife that more flying makes a better husband.

Get my landing strip done.

There's an outfit closer to home for you (Norcal Aviation? in San Andreas?) that does float training in a C-150/150, I've heard that the gal who runs that operation is a good instructor and fun to fly with. I think maybe they also have an Apache on floats for folks who want a multi-sea rating.

Tough one

Yep here goes.

1. Get my commercial single/multi done before June.
2. Hopefully get out of the 182 and into a 140, or something 2 seat with a TW, that burns less fuel.
3. Make it to Idaho for the BCP flyin. Even if I have to hitch a ride.
4. Get below 200 lbs. Won't hold my breath on that one.
5. Go camping more, fishing with the son. :P
6. Finish welding in the floor boards in the 55 Chev, blast and paint the frame.
7. Ride my bike to work, health kick. Maybe help to lose 65 pounds.

If I can get all that done it will be a dang fine year.

Have a good one, Bub

Lets see, I flew a fair amount in 2007 so I think I want to:

1) Get more naps under the wing of my aeroplane on sunny and warm days.

2) Order bacon with my breakfast every time I fly with friends to a restaurant.

3) Land as much as possible on nice grassy strips.

4) Take off as much as possible on nice grassy strips.

5) Take a week and fly to Sun 'n Fun with my sweetie pie!

6) Be positive in all the things I do or say.

Happy New Year everybody!

Maybe we can get a BCP group together at Sun-N-fun?

Sounds good to me! I have a house in Daytona Beach I was going to stay at and make daily hops to Lakeland. Always room for a couple more if anybody needs a place to sleep. Of course, I am not opposed to camping out on the field.

I've always camped, had thought about bringing the 5th wheel next year, but then I couldn't fly. Let's see if we can get a group together.
I had even thought about going in the 140, they do a group thing, but that would mean the 5th wheel would be mandatory and I haven't figured out how to get it there.
Sun-N-Fun is a blast, but would be a lot more fun as a group. :D

3. Get my Commercial ticket.

4. Get the OBS installed in my airplane already.

5. Find work, hopefully in my airplane.

6. Challenge myself and my airplane even more..

MW,

A fellow Skywagon buddy of mine down here in Los Lunas is working with various skilled web wizards and state aviation folks to better support and document the remote runways in our state. There are a LOT of them...most I've never heard of. Stay tuned.

zero.one.victor wrote:Off topiuc, but there's a pretty good article in the latest American Rifleman by Ross Sefried, about a varmint-buster he built for a freind chambered in 22-6mm Ackley. A bit more cartridge capacity-wise than the 22-250 but not a helluva lot more. The trick was 1:8 rifling in a 27" barrel to shoot long 80 grain bullets. Interesting read.

Eric

I like that one. I always thought a .22 Akley would make a nice rifle. Got to load your own though - not that that's a problem.

I only flew 22 hours in 2007. My resolutions are:
1. Fly a LOT more.
2. Make the 170 convention in Branson.
3. Update my avionics.
Forgot one -
4. Take more photos! This site has the neatest photos.

Baring problems with our elderly parents, my Wife and I should be able to do these things.

I have a Model 70 in 250-300 Ackley. Due to the blown-out case & sharp shoulder, it doesn't feed too well from the magazine if you get jerky with the bolt, and it only holds 4 rounds instead of 5. Shows real low velocity when shooting (fire-forming) factory 250-3000 cartridges too. Kinda wish I'd just chambered it in standard 250-3000. A well-regarded cartridge back in the 1920's & 30's, but quite under-rated these days.

1. Screw getting the Instrument rating. Screw the Commercial, too, and the multi, seaplane, glider, and everything else I can't do in my own airplane.
2. Break 500 hours (140 to go)
3. Do more of my own maintenance (replaced the brake cables today)
4. Go to Continental Luscombe Association fly-in in Columbia, CA, and Antique Aircraft Association fly-in in Iowa
5. Don't sweat the price of fuel
6. Camp under the wing a lot more. 5 nights a year is not enough
7. Live to see the day in 2009 ([-o< ) when I get the plane paid off!
