This was by far the coolest experience of my short pilot career... flew to Jackson MN to meet up with an awesome group of pilots. From there we flew to Osh together over the next couple of days. It was way to much fun...

I'm amazed that a crowd that large is completely full of people that are happy to talk about anything aviation related. I met lots of people and was reminded of what a small world it is. While taking pictures of warbirds as the sun was setting one evening, I ran into a serious photographer with 4 cameras slung around his neck. We chatted briefly and I asked him where he was from. He said it was a small town in the Northwest I probably never heard of. It turns out he was from Sequim, WA, only about 25 miles from my hometown of Port Hadlock. Stories like that repeated themselves throughout the week. I've been home since last Saturday and I'm still smiling. And I know I didn't do any backcountry flying on this trip, but that's coming up later this summer.
lots of TFRs for fires in Montana
Plenty of storms to avoid along the way
The best chair for viewing an airshow
I saw a lot of beautiful country, but it was still good to get home to the Cascades in Washington State!
