I can certainly identify with that. My dog Kirby was my copilot, actually back seat pilot. He loved to fly with me any chance he got. He was everybody's best friend at any fly-in. And night times on the bed, exactly as Jimmy Stewart described it, even after he was gone.

When I lost a lab in 2008 a friend sent this to me from SC.org
It still brings tears to my eyes.
Stewart and Carson were in a class by themselves. I wont watch the late shows now. As a child I remember falling asleep on the floor during Carson and waking up in my bed.
