Not generally a fan of the traditional movie industry. And I think commercial films and TV are getting worse every year.

Only have time to listen and read facts. Do not have the need for distorted and deranged drug/alcohol fueled fantasies forced into my home media. Hollywood is a freaking trip, not for me.

I like the video editing presented here at BackCountryPilot.org (c). Very satisfied with the content! I love this bulletin board.

I know Zane, I almost get emotional appreciating how perfectly Van Damme, Volvo, the film crew, stunt coordinators and drivers nailed this thing! Just awesome!

This was done on a closed runway near Madrid at sunrise. Not much time to get it right with the light. Lot of practice ahead of time, but only one take.

They had little platforms built on the mirrors and Van Damme was wearing a wire rig in case he fell. The painted lines were set at different distances and only the box truck did the moving over. Easier to only have one move and NOT the tractor trailer, that guy had all he could do to keep his rig straight.

As an advertisement for Volvo's new steering set up, it couldn't have been more effective! Kudos all round!

Has anyone thought about how this could have been filmed normal and then played backwards? I mean there are no words so they wouldn't have to do much to make it seem like the cars are backing up! Anyone else think it was played backwards?

Yes. I had that same thought but.......

Totally. I can't see driving backwards being the easiest way to drive formation. Unless they're trying to show off the extreme precision of the all new Volvo Dynamic Steering™.

That was the point they were trying to make about the steering, demonstrating the preciseness in an extreme condition. If you look at clothing ruffles, foot placement and driver head positions, I'd say it was legit.

Rich, I finally watched the entire Pudovkin video. Pretty good stuff. Some of those techniques can be really powerful if used appropriately.

Glad you liked it. I've really been impressed with the bump in quality in our little corner of aviation and it's encouraged me to step up my game. Thought that video might be useful to others with the same thoughts.
