Forced Landing, Plane Wrecked in Paradise,MT

The plane is a Softex Aero V-24L, no serious injures.

I'm sure this is not how Softex wanted their plane to be in the news.

More info has come out.

Apparently the left prop had to be replaced in July of 2016 going to OSH. The plane was leaving Missoula for Seattle after having the prop fixed again in Missoula.

"Officials said in the National Transportation Safety Board report the plane had reported equipment trouble in July during a flight from Seattle to Wisconsin. The report says the equipment, a propeller, was repaired but the same problem developed again. This time the propeller was repaired in Missoula."

"An NTSB report is shedding new light on the crash of a small plane Jan. 3 just northwest of Missoula in Paradise.

The report says the plane had two repairs to the left propeller prior to the accident.

Investigators don’t know what caused the crash.

We tracked down the pilot, who asked to remain anonymous. He told us he and his brother were flying in clear conditions back to Seattle from Missoula after getting the left propeller repaired.

He speculated that cold temperatures and mechanics could have caused the crash, which he called a “forced landing.”

He described the landing space in Paradise as mostly flat, except for a ravine. The pilot said hitting the ravine really hurt him."

I saw a cut cross section of one of the control surfaces last night. A fellow who's a composites expert was explaining the laminate. Pretty interesting, but not much rigidity.

The pilot did a great job of getting down safely!! Plane will need a bit of fiberglass work but looks like the pilot flew all the way to the crash site =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>
