Foster Ranch ID / Shower Bath Hot Springs

Has anyone been into Foster Ranch ID (NW of Upper Loon) or have contact info? Looks like it would provide access to shower bath hot springs. Its not registered so not explicitly a PPR - but I see some comments that it is private.

I don't know anything about it, but it shows up on Google Earth as about 10 miles North East of Upper Loon ( 44.656006°, -114.647524°)

Yes, it is private and they don't want anyone landing there. I talked to IAA about it and they contacted the owner who was not at all interested in allowing access.

That leaves it as a 12-mile one way hike from upper loon, or you drive within about 3-miles of it from the Challis side.

Re: Foster Ranch ID / Shower Bath Hot Springs

why would you want to hike there and give them business when they obviously aren't airplane friendly

They have nothing to do with the natural hot springs 3-miles upstream from their strip. The strip is just the easiest access point for those of us with planes.

Re: Foster Ranch ID / Shower Bath Hot Springs

thanks for the info -

Google suggests roads that get you to Parker Mtn - even if driveable or at least by mtn bike,
looks pretty rough with lots of vertical after that though...

Re: Foster Ranch ID / Shower Bath Hot Springs

Your really close. You might want to stay right on road NF86 instead of taking the left onto Parker Mountain road. NF86 is the road coming in off the highway. I think foot access may be easier that way, but I haven't done it so just basing that on Google Earth.

Good luck. It will be great to read what you find.

Re: Foster Ranch ID / Shower Bath Hot Springs

I have ridden through shower bath springs area on horseback from the Twin Peaks side out of Challis. Really super to ride up the creek bed along the cliffs and just hold your hand out to test the water temp. This one is too hot, this one is too cold, this one is just right, then you peel off your boots and step out of the saddle to take a shower. You can shower in the saddle but you better have a dead gentle nag or you might get your junk hung up!!!
