Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Found (even more) old crap in Nevada!

I have been wanting to go check out some ghost towns and hot springs up in Nevada that I haven't seen much info on. So here is what I found today.

The next spot was along side a highway and has gotten a lot of vandalism. Still pretty cool though.

Found a nice improved hot spring with up front parking :D

Next was another ghost town

I think if I would have taken any longer to leave these guys would have jumped into the plane with me.

Must have been good values in the ground to warrant living in such a desolate place!

Marietta is a cool spot. We've had a gaggle or two in there before.

The graffiti on the left is actually kinda cool looking, although I wish the artist had done it somewhere more appropriate.

Cool to see the burros. I guess they've been known to foul waterholes used by desert sheep etc. -- in fact, it used to be pretty common (and legal) to shoot them, but they're probably protected now. I know a lot of people regard them as pests, but when I was a kid my favorite aunt & uncle had some burros that they used for packing up into the Olympics, so I've always had a soft spot for them.

I don't have much of an eye for form I think. I can't make heads nor tails of it. What does it say?

I set out to do that once upon a time but I let life get in the way and I didn't get too far
Go for it Justin. I think you are a closet Nevadan. Can you see Nevada from the top of those towers?

Yup, and Mark and Tristano. First Annual Marietta Wild Burro Fly-In. Floyd and Sue showed up later in their camper.

Either that or "Airpark living on the cheap". Doesn't appear any more desolate than my new home.

Just a dirt road. Runs east to west, about 1,500 feet usable. The old strip runs north/south. Land east of the ruins.

Marietta is about 20 miles southwest of Mina, shows as Teal's Marsh on a lot of maps.
