Cool video! What drone are you using? I’m thinking I want to get one to play with.

When you were on Freemont Island did you see Kit Carson's signature?

It's an old DJI Phantom 3. If I didn't have it, I'd buy the Mavic.

Yeah, the Island is my refuge. I've seen it a few times.

Re: Fremont Island, UT

Thought you guys around SLC might be interested in this: I guess I'm not smart enough to link a facebook post. Basically a dude (Heavy D on facebook) bought Fremont Island and has big plans:
We have big, aggressive plans to open the island up for visitors from all around the world to come experience a piece of the Wild West. I hope that all of you can someday join us for an island adventure including summer concerts, offroad racing, horseback riding, camping, exploring, shooting, etc!

Re: Fremont Island, UT

Yeah. We are aware of it. It’s a shame because the previous owners had finally warmed up to us this last year...at least for officially approving use. Some people from UBCP know the Diesel Brothers and we are hopeful that the strips and our access will survive...but as of now that’s unknown. I just hope Kit Carson’s Cross is protected and preserved.

Honestly, their big plans make me pretty sad. It’s a beautiful island and I hate to see it get ripped up and commercialized. I kept meaning to get out there and spend a night but never got it done. I’m kicking myself now. It will be interesting to see what happens. Personally, I don’t see such a venture drawing a big crowd.

Can you post a link to whatever article you found? Thanks.

If it's an island, how are people getting their 4 wheelers out there?

Never underestimate the ingenuity of rednecks to get 4wd vehicles into inaccessible places.

I'm sure he has a boat capable of hauling them. Maybe he is slinging them out there with his helicopter. :^o

The land bridge from Fremont to the causeway to Antelope Island has been used before. I'm sure it'll be used again.

Yup. The sand bar is above the waterline now while the water level is low.

Re: Fremont Island, UT

Yesterday someone was there with a heli and a 4 person wheeler. The heli was next to the cabin and the wheeler was at the northern end. Some of us flew over them, wagged our wings and landed on the upper ridge strip. We thought they would come over to us to say hello, but they never showed. I really did want to meet them and discuss the future of the island and the "Use Agreement' contract with Utah Backcountry Pilots. By the time we were ready to leave, they had loaded everything in the heli and were gone. They certainly didn't make any attempt to run us off.
