Fry Canyon, UT74

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Fry Canyon, UT74

I had not made it to Fry Canyon all summer. Went in today in the C182. The rains made the strip a touch rougher than before, however, there were no ruts to speak of. The weeds were tall so I have a green prop. Make sure you land west(uphill) of the two track bisecting the strip.

I'm glad you went. I was there about a month ago and hiked the fry slot canyon, a great rappel down into a pool that you have to swim out of.

I'm thinking about camping at Fry Canyon or Mineral Canyon this weekend. Any condition updates would be appreciated.

Magnet - we are flying to Huntington via Mexican Mountain - leaving this morning. We were at Mineral Canyon a couple of weekends ago and it was in great shape. Just have to watch for the sky jumpers operating out of Moab. We overflew Fry Canyon and it looked good from the air.

We plan to be at Mexican Mountain until late afternoon today and then will go on into Huntington around 4 pm. Maybe we will see you there.

Re: Fry Canyon, UT74

Arnie, we are only in Utah for the weekend. We spent yesterday at Mexican Mountain. It is in pretty good shape except for east end. We were joined by 3 other airplane campers for the evening. Beautiful place ! We heard from other pilots that Mineral Canyon was wet. Today we flew to Huntington for breakfast and fuel. Then spent some enjoyable time at Hidden Splendor and Wee Hope Mine.

Hope to see you at Negrito next weekend.

Re: Fry Canyon, UT74

I've been into Fry Canyon the last two weekends. The strip is fine, except for some weeds that have gotten a bit high. There have been vehicles on the runway, but they did not tear it up.

Remember, land rwy 30 long, NW of the bisecting two track.
