Re: FS: 1954 170B with 180HP $80K

Last week I was out at KFTG doing some miscellaneous work... The wind was howling, probably 20G30 and I look out of my hangar and see this beautiful 170 take off - I said to my son "no way he's coming back to land...". Sure enough I watched him do 5-6 T&G's in X-winds that I wouldn't have even taxied in!

On my way home I stopped at his hangar to see this bird - The workmanship is unbelievable!

Beautiful bird - I'd love own it!!!

Jim

As Jim said, the workmanship on this beauty is top notch. Tony and his Old Man have made this good plane an incredible plane.

Good luck on the sale, but I hope it doesn't sell too quick as I love seeing it around. :D

That's my dad...I've yet to meet anyone who flies a 185 like him. Thanks for mentioning this Jim, some folks think he's nuts, but it makes me proud to hear this stuff.

Matt, I forgot to give you credit for the video. Thanks again for sending it.

My dad emailed me today to tell me everything I forgot in the ad, so here's some more goodies it has:

Oil filter
Brackett air filter
Strapless windshield
Aileron gap seals
Heated pitot
Solid axles
Lndg lights in both wings
Hobbs meter
Ptt mike switches both yokes
Oil quick drain valve
Complete logs since new

I've honestly never seen anyone land a taildragger in those kind of winds and hit the numbers every time. I certainly would not have tried it in my Maule. I don't think you dad is crazy, I think he's got old school talent! I flew in about 20 minutes before in the Bo and remember the winds because it was the most x-wind I have landed in my new bird. The wind was 20G30 45 degrees off 26 (so... with a 08/26 and 17/35, there was no good option). It was all I could do to get around base to final with a lot of throttle to cut the corner, and I still undershot the turn.

Fun to watch and seeing that it was a pretty 170 made it better. My 10 year old asked me if I was a good enough pilot to do it... Nope.
