Circumstances!!!!
Looks like you might be backed up against a wall!!
What is the AME charging you a month to keep, tie down and watch your bird?
Is it in a hangar? Is there a hangar available to do an annual?
Your kinda stuck until it's in annual as I don't think the FAA has any authority to issue a Ferry permit in CA. Also I don't think you can fly in CA with a US ferry permit??
Plus it will need a new sticker to get into America!!
You need to find a A@I coming down from AK this fall to do an annual and bring it on down to you.
Maybe Bill needs a good Excuse to go there and he could bring it back for you!!??
Good Luck

But as was stated above, there may be issues getting it back. Seems like the thing to do is take an AI up to Ft St John, but that sounds like big $ just to check out the plane.
hotrod150 wrote:That's a nice looking 170. I knew the former owner, Jim Stewart, who used to keep it at Bellingham. I have a snapshot of him flying alongside me (me in my ragwing 170) down the Skagit River valley, on the way home from the Concrete Fly-in in 2003. You should buy it & bring it back home to B'Ham, Littlewheel.

It's pitched for climb now so that is where the performance is, Even with the finer pitch it still cruises a couple of knots faster than stock. After all the 170 is a dirty airplane in cruise even without a nosewheel dragging out front. Not the performance of the Lycoming or Continental 180hp conversions but still very noticeable. Keep it under 2100 lbs it will takeoff and climb - well, not like a homesick angel, but pretty darn good. At gross weight it still makes you wish for a C185 but there is more margin than with the O-300. It has become the new normal for me when I flew right seat in a friends stock 170A a few months ago I was wondering when we would ever lift off the centerline
With the stock 76x53 prop before I changed, I was seeing 110-115 knots at 2500rpm. With a 55 pitch cruise prop it should move pretty good.

To be fair, yours was a little faster the day you bought it
