FS/FT: Continental O-300 Cylinders

Hey guys, I have (8) O-300 cylinders. (6) are steel with an unknown amount of time on them, (2) chrome cylinders were just removed from my engine due to leaking exhaust valves. The Chrome cylinders have about 400 hrs. since overhaul. All 8 cylinders have rockers, valves, and pistons. If anyone has any interest, please let me know and I will get some pictures to you. As far as price, make me an offer. I would also be open to trades.

Re: FS/FT: Continental O-300 Cylinders

I recovered 12 really nice Continental IO-550 cylinders from a hangar clean out a while back, posted them on Barnstormers twice and didn't receive a single inquiry. When I replaced all six on my 170 years ago, the mechanic sent the old ones to scrap. Said there was nothing he could do with them that would pencil out to his benefit. Might just be my limited experience, but used cylinders seem to be about as sought after as used underwear.

If nobody steps up to buy them, maybe you can donate them to an A&P school somewhere and get a tax credit?

We sell to Korean scrapyards here in Honolulu. Nobody overhauls cylinders anymore around here.

Re: FS/FT: Continental O-300 Cylinders

If you still have them in a couple of months, we can work out some way to include them into a trade for the early 172 nose gear strut you wanted. No guarantees, no values set, no promises, no haggling... just don't scrap them out if they're able to be rebuilt. Line them up real nice and orderly on the shelf under your workbench, don't let them get wet or burned or acid-rained or rat-nested, and we'll see what the future holds.
