What are you replacing it with? I have the same beacon on my 170.

The rotating beacon on my LRB stopped rotating a couple of years ago, so I replaced it with this: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/cache/200 ... 285-1s.jpg. It was on sale, though still a little over $600. MUCH better than the old rotator. Mine is the split red/white, with the red mounted forward. Only problem: the old one (when it was rotating) made a grinding noise that I would hear as soon as I shut off the engine--made a great reminder that I needed to turn off the master! Several times since replacing it, I've walked away from the airplane, only to look back and see the new strobe still flashing.
