fuel delivery trucks and 100LL
Nothing happens without it. Discuss fuel locations, quality, alternatives, and anything else related to this critical resource.
We got a new load of 100LL yesterday so I was quizzing the guy and learned something. The truck is NOT dedicated to 100LL only. All he has to do between hauling 100LL to the airport and unleaded to the convenience store is flush the hose with 10 gallons(amount in the hose). Also found it interesting that they use a railcar to haul 100LL from Kansas City up to Omaha----I figured that as close as the refinery at KC is to Omaha, that a truck would be the best.

That stuff RUINS engines!!

Humor may not make the world go around, but it certainly cheers up the process...

With clothing, the opposite of NOMEX is polypro (polypropylene cloth and fleece).
Success has many fathers...... Failure is an orphan.
I was thinking more along the line of oxygen sensor eating lead in the E10 at the convenience store.

When we get fuel its in dedicated tank trailers, about 7700 gal. at about 2 to 4 times a week. Thats Jet-A though. Not sure about the 100LL, we don't move near as much of that but I'll ask the driver next time.
Seems if the tank is large enough any residual would be so diluted it wouldn't matter very much.
The aroma of sump avgas going to good use in the lawn tractor does put a smile on my face.

the tanks are supposed to be cleaned before each change per regs', you are not going to get any contamination

Count on the dilution factor but not on the tank getting cleaned. In '09 a contractor delivering ice cream premix for nearby Schwan Foods did not rinse out the salmonella bearing raw eggs he carried in his previous tanker load. To the credit of the company they voluntarily shut down production while searching for the cause instead of standard disclaimers and denials until proof positive is found.

I asked about the Jet-A also. No Jet A or diesel in the compartment carrying unleaded or 100LL. But diesel or Jet-A can be hauled in the same compartment. Just flush with 20 gallons since that hose holds more. This is a pretty nice single axle delivery truck and has a float in the top of each compartment that will tell the load rack to shut off when getting full and a push button type deal at the dry break fill connection so the driver can't drive off without unhooking the fill hose.

Along dirtstrip's post---I remember reading in the 70's where a tanker could haul a load of acid and then go load orange juice concentrate. A law was made to put a stop to that kind of combination---even if the trailer was cleaned I think.
