Fun with a retired cylinder

I had to come up with a secret santa gift recently, and the recipient is a student pilot who has soloed and is working on his cross countries. I had a red-tagged jug at my disposal. The base is some plastic deck lumber that was thick enough to bolt to the flange and still protrude past the barrel. The top had a handy cast stem between the valve guides that was nicely centered. I threaded the outside for the lamp socket, and drilled out the center for the wiring. I like the fact that you can look inside from the bottom and see the inside of the cylinder. Enjoy:

denalipilot, are you one of those guys (like in the beer commercial) that tell your wives you are going up on the roof to fix something, but really drink beer and watch football up there?

I like your lamp BTW.

Good eye. It was cracked where a little pin had been installed to help retain the spark plug bushing.
