Garmin 296 Question/Garmin update Question
Avionics, airplane covers, tires, handheld radios, GPS receivers, wireless Wx uplink...any product related to backcountry aircraft and flying.
Hello All,
Is there any way to make the Garmin 296 show the outbound radial "from" a VOR, and configure the CDI to intercept an "outbound" radial? More specifically, if approaching a VOR from the South East (inbound), can I configure the GPS presentation/CDI to intercept the 120 Degree Radial? Or, if flying away from the VOR heading South East, show the correct presentation to intercept the 120 Degree radial outbound?
Also, does anyone know the cost that is normally associated with updating a Garmin GNC 250XL with the latest database as well as a KLN90B.
Thanks for all the help

I think that is doable. I'll have to dig out my book.

If you would like to get that detailed try Jeppesen Flite Star software. After planning your flight plan Flite Star interfaces with the Gamin 296 direct and transfers the plan to the GPS. I never tried doing it with the GPS without Flite Star but that is why I bought it to make planning easier.

WOC SPOT
You can set the OBS independently of the direct course to your waypoint by going to the panel page and hitting the Menu button, then selecting "Set OBS and Hold"
Set whatever "radial" you like. You can then set the heading bug independently too. The course line on the map will show whatever you set the OBS to though, rather than a Direct To course. Fly a track that intercepts that.
There doesn't appear to be any obvious way to fly normal(perpendicular) to a user-defined radial, or have a course automatically calculated to intercept another radial.
In an effort to better learn my 496 I tried to do what you were asking, but it's not obvious if it is possible.
