Gate and bathroom codes

Am curious what sources others use for gate and bathroom codes at unfamiliar airports. I checked the chart supplement and couldn’t find them there.

Re: Gate and bathroom codes

Unicom works sometimes . Or just hop the fence . Usually the code is right on the other side .

Unicom, 1200, or in michigan the older push-button locks use 5, 2-3(same time), 1.

Unicom, 1200, 1215, field elevation, freq. of the nearest VOR, any other well known freq. in the area. or some easy pattern such as 1,3,7,9 or 2,5, 8,0. I've never seen a random number.

Re: Gate and bathroom codes

I haven't seen a code on a bathroom. I was leaving on an early morning flight one time when a landing plane called on the radio, "Hey Kitfox where's the bathroom here?" He was lucky because the door to the FBO was locked but I knew the back door leading to the bathroom was open.

My brother briefly had a job breaking into banks. Wait, sorry, that's not what his card said. "Physical Security Specialist"? I think that's the PC way to phrase it.

Anyway, that lock (and a few others like it) were usually a quick way for them to justify the expense of the audit. They would show up for the first day at a new contract, use locks like that which hadn't had their defaults changed, and introduce themselves to people working in what was supposed to be a secure area.

Re: Gate and bathroom codes

Publishing the codes online would defeat any security benefit; therefore, doubt anyone does that

I have always found a sign on the runway side of any security gate with the re-entry code listed. May be the Unicom numbers or simply a code. Pilot lounges if locked normally have a sign with some think like...."unicom for airport" or something similar.

If none of those work, you could try the things listed in previous post above or find a convenient tree or bush depending on the level of urgency.
