Get 'em when ya' can!

Well, with Furnace Creek scrubbed, I spent an overcast, wet and dreary Saturday afternoon tearing apart my tailwheel. It had been getting stiff and I figured being grounded by weather I might as well do something useful. Everything came apart and amazingly went back together fine. Just a matter of cleaning everything, repacking the bearings etc. Now I know how the Or. boyz feel. Sunday morning broke bright and clear. After a few chores around the house I figured it was time to check the tailwheel out. After a couple T.O.s and L's I was off to one of our local dirt strips. A little muddy from all the rain but no problem. Departed that airstrip and made a pass over the local private pond where I did my seaplane training only to find two Huskies making a low pass over the lake. The Huskies were a couple of Buddies from back at O22 so I naturally fell in formation. We spent the rest of the afternoon crusin' the local lakes and checking out some of the other dirt strips. We made our way south to Mariposa (MPI) and stopped in to use the facilities and grab a soda. By the time we departed the low clouds were back and were obscuring some of the mountain tops but with it all being our backyard we had no problem with a little IFR (I follow roads) back to O22. All in all a wonderful, impromtu, afternoon of good old low and slow with some buddies. During the winter ya' have to "Get 'em when ya' can"... ;-)

Jeff,

Actually a guy really needs two planes. One on wheels and another on straight floats. Where is that darn lottery ticket?

BTW,

How'd the eviction go (or do I dare ask)...
