Getting high in Nevada!!

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Getting high in Nevada!!

This should probably go into "where did you fly today" but do not want to take over that thread.

Today was a good time in the alpine desert of Nevada with no wind to speak of and perfect conditions. Reminded me of the song that goes something like "where the deer and the antelope roam". Saw more Antelope and wild horses than I can even comment on. Wild flowers are going off up high. Saw Desert Big Horn, Antelope, Deer and wild horses. Honestly, more than I could keep track of. They are everywhere up high in Northern Nevada now.

Found these two gems for landings today. One was just over 10,200'. Tweaking on the high landings!! My outside temp read 77. Density altitude must of been up there. Coyote Ugly, you are definitely an inspiration!~~

Re: Getting high in Nevada!!

All that snow this year in the west sure has been good for the wildflowers, grasses, and things that feed on them. My digital camera for some reason really didn't do credit to the displays I saw. Those look like fun sites, if I get out that way I'll give you a call. There is a great automotive museum in Reno I understand that is calling to me.....

Hell, I had to work today #-o

Re: Getting high in Nevada!!

Well Pops is starting to put the pressure on for cool places to land, thats for certain!

Found a few more this am on or SE circuit loop. The high one here sits at just under 10K. 9740 to be exact. Winds where up a bit in the alpine making for great landings but the TO on the high boy was a downwinder. That coupled with DA shooting through the roof I figured it was time to get home. Got a late start this AM. Pretty happy about the SE circuit however. We now have a full 18 holes out there. This old abandon mine is an nice par 3. BLM reclaimed the land a few years back. The other couple high ones are a solid par 5 (meaning high DA, uphill landings, requires several fly by's to determine precise touch down along with several more fly by's to actually make it happen after the sweat is gone from your hands. Good times! Anyone want to play this weekend?

This a fun one at about 9100' . This one allows for a landing in both directions

Abandoned old mine. BLM reclaimed the land a few years back. Nice little par 3 at 5600' - One way in only

Todays high boy! Calling this peak the whore house. More landings up here than one could hit in a day. 9740'. All BLM land

Re: Getting high in Nevada!!

Rob- The video is really good! I need to put a bunch of it together for an edit of some flying. The follow stuff of you is excellent!

Sorry courrierguy! Spent the morning burn lowlead and now in the office again. No doubt! Hard to get stuff done after seeing a bunch of Antelope and landing in places that make your palms sweat!! We need to connect in the middle of Nevada somewhere and chase Coyote ugly around!
