Has anyone done this now that the GFC 500 is approved for the C180. I already have dual G5s.

Theres been quite an explosion of new avionics for certified airplanes over the last couple of years, due to FAA relaxing their approval requirements. Kinda hard to keep track of them all.
What all is available now in "affordable" (definitely a relative term) autopilots? Are any of them a simple, single axis "wing leveler"?
FWIW i have an early pre-STC garmin G5 that is desogned to drive an autopilot

Yes-
I have dual G5’s and the GFC500 in my 185. I opted for the yaw dampener as well and highly recommend you install if you do the install. I have posted on the 180/185 Club website well.
The interface between the G5 and GFC500 is great. I’ve flown all sorts of approaches to include VNAV to an LPV and it works great. It was well worth the money and I could not be happier. I have a GTN 750 so I opted for the dual G5’s vs. GTX3. As stated there are going to be many advances in this space. I just wanted a solid autopilot and adequate SA at a reasonable cost. I could not be more pleased.
You were a bit before my time in the Hog..I was Osan, Tucson. Spent a little time at KBAD too.

Has anyone installed a AP Disconnect on a early 180 (1955) yoke? Started a GFC500 install and looking for ideas before I do something ugly to the yoke.
