Gimbal Me This

Has anyone tried adding a 3-d brushless dc motor gimbal to their aircraft to stabilize video? This one is made with rubber mounting for R/C aircraft - looks like it could be retrofitted to an inspection panel fairly easily. There is also a remote control - so you can control the pan/tilt angle from inside the plane with the gopro streaming to your smartphone inside the plane.

Re: Gimbal Me This

I haven't used one of those, but based on other gimbals I've seen/used for gopro type cameras (not on airplanes), that seems like a hell of a deal if it actually works. I like the multiple modes as well.

I like my Feiyu G4. Never had it mounted on the a/c exterior but it does very well hanging out of a car at ~60mph. It would probably do fine at higher speeds but mounting is a little more difficult than a standard GoPro case.

I have the same one. I'm shocked that you got it up to 60 before it flaked out. My experience is more like 30-40. Anyway, I can say from experience that those motors don't stand a chance in hell at 80 or above!

They are the greatest devices ever at less than 30 though...
