Give me some Winter float flying suggestions.

I need warm weather and good float flying. Suggestions please.
Ok, I am a east coaster but looking for good spot for the winter besides Florida.

Any good suggestions out west for some great warm winter flying on floats

Other than Florida?

Sheble Aviation out of Fort Mojave AZ/Laughlin NV. Couple hours south of Vegas. Funny, we were just discussing them in the other thread. May or may not be "warm" depending on the weather of the week there, but will be warmer than the upper "right" coast 8)

Not really looking for flight school but rather someplace to move my plane too so I can continue to use the floats through the winter.

Thanks for the help.

Southern Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. I've had fun down in south Louisiana going out to oil wells with a chemical salesman friend but that is salt and they probably don't want civilians showing up at the wells.

Re: Give me some Winter float flying suggestions.

There's actually some good float flying in in the Southwest (AZ, NV, CA) during the winter months.

Bummed Ron Pratte's C208 for the day a couple years ago.

I had mine in Northern California when I lived in Sonoma County, and we never lacked for places to fly or things to do. With Hoser the Wonder Dog on the Russian River circa 1992.

Gump, have you gained weight? :D

Fly down to the Lake Powell or Lake Mead. How about Baja.?

Lake Havasu would be a great base of operations for a winter, especially if you also appreciate golf

Not sure of any marinas there accept float planes? Unless by chance you are on amphibs?

Lake Powell, Lake Mojave and Lake Mead are great places to land and camp coming from somewhere else. Not so good a place to fuel or access other services as they do not allow float planes inside the marina breakwaters or at the ramps.

Tim, forget Baja for floats. Pain in the neck getting permission BEFORE being able to land on the water. Even on wheels you are pretty much restricted to registered airports and dirt strips. Boondock landings are asking for trouble. FF

Wow Ron Pratte, I know of him and his love for cars. Now I see he has excellent taste in water transportation as well. I'm sure he has more than one.

I will look into the Havasu idea and thanks.

Any more good idea's, pictures are a great bonus keep em coming.

Well I love golf as much as flying. And yes my bird is a Cessna 182 with Aerocet amphib's.

Are there some facilities that will welcome or allow some ramping with the wheels?

I have only had it a year and trying to explore with it.

Ron owns the Overton Beach Marina at Lake Mead. Be a good place to fly from.

Havasu has a great public course, and there are lots of others within striking distance, and reasonable furnished rentals. If'n I was still into golf, which I am not, but if I were, I could spend a winter basing out of Havasu tagging the Colorado River from Mead to Yuma on the weekends and golfing during the week.
