Spotting his hangar for the first time, not knowing who owned it (though I've known his story for years) I was struck by the fact that the hangar has NO WINDOWS. Knowing later that some one lived there makes that even more of a puzzler for me. I'm not talking lots of windows, on the west side, I get that. But damn with a great view like he has, a few, with provision for summer time shading would be the way I'd go. He was probably going for a stealth factor. Whatever, to each his own, a super interesting guy.
