Good to see my ex Luscombe still flying!

A couple of years ago I was flying a Luscombe. What a great plane! Underpowered as hell at 65hp but fun as hell to fly!

Now my wife is a good women but she has a rule, I am only allowed one of a major toy at a time! A sports car, a catamaran, a big telescope, etc. So when I acquired my Maule the Luscombe had to go!

I sold it to Jim Tucker, the subject of this AOPA article.

http://www.aopa.org/members/files/pilot/epilot/2010/100611epilot.html?WT.mc_id=100611epilot

What a surprise seeing the pictures of it in the article! Jim is a great guy. The day he took the airplane for a test ride at my field was the first time he had flown alone since his injuries. He had a smile when he got back from the ride that wrapped around his head!

I am so pleased that the Luscombe has a great home and is flown by a guy who loves aviation!

Great comeback story. Beautiful plane. No plane could do more for a man than save his life, or in this case make it worth living and that is what flying that Luscombe has done for him. It could not be more appreciated or have any better home. Thanks for posting.

One of my fears about selling my plane is that is will end up in a field again...its great to see such a beautiful plane, way beyond that of a maule :D, being flown by someone who loves aviation.

A Luscombe makes a real pilot out of you. No sissy tailwheel stuff. Real ground looping, side hopping... brake stabbing, heel bending FUN>
I am sure glad that FEDEX guy picked the right machine for his rehab. He is going to heal better and faster now. Don't need horsepower... just quick feet and a real understanding of coordination and slipping to land. What fun.
Thanks for sharing your story of where the Silvaire ended up!!!!

Flying is dangerous. If you think otherwise, you are new at this sport. Mind the gravity not the gap.
