It takes strength and fortitude to beat the air into submission.

GoPro Hero 11 - joining Next Generation

Borrowing a GoPro today and testing it low and slow. I may replace my VIRB someday…

GoPro Hero 11 Test #2: Skiing today at Willamette Pass:

I definitely give it a thumbs up and will fully purchase my very own when I get home. Thank you to Mary for letting me try it out.

GoPro Hero 11 - time to join the NextGen

Navy Exchange in Honolulu has the GoPro Hero 11 and of course it’s tax free (and discounted) for DOD ID cards! (7) year old VIRB will be retired soon. She was (is) a good camera, not perfect but, pretty good for 500+ videos on exterior and/or in-cabin of a helicopter, JetSki, bodysurfing, ATV, Motorcycling etc…

It’s time to leave the beautiful Oregon mountains and return to the Yacht Harbor. The BF150s are timed out and Windward Boats is installing new BF140s (less money than BF150s). The boat was over powered for what I need.

A tearful departure (Note: YouTube really cuts down the quality of the Hero 11 unfortunately):

I suspect he’s watching it before the YouTube backend has completed processing of the various HD formats and it’s delivering SD only.

Just looked at the video and it’s available in 720p maximum. I think YouTube will deliver up to 6K these days but they can only process what you give them. I suspect uploading of 720p video.

Today was a “Kona Wind” on Oahu, AKA “The Pineapple Express” on the Mainland. Good day to make my first GoPro Hero 11 video.

Let’s take a stroll in the tropical sunshine, rent a surfboard and enjoy the hot humid day…

Re: GoPro Hero 11 - joining Next Generation

My brand new GoPro Hero 11 Black has survived helicopter flight, ocean swimming, skiing and driving in winter snow. Time for another environmental test for the camera…

Yesterday on Sunday, Mary said “Let’s take the GoPro surfing?” I was not really interested because it’s kind of a hassle filming in the surf. Mary volunteered to carry the camera and caught a clip of me struggling to catch a very small (but fun) wave…

I’m falling in love with the camera, seems reliable. Unfortunately, I have had very bad experiences with the GoPro brand in the past. And kept using the Garmin VIRB for many years as mentioned.

More Kona wind 2023.04.02. I can even see my apartment building.
