Grand Canyon Access

Looking for beta on accessing the Grand Canyon via airplane for some hiking this spring. There is the West airport, and the Bar Ten airport on the North Rim. I have always heard that the North Rim is really nice. Does anyone know of any good hikes that are accessible from an airstrip? Perhaps Bright Angel from Grand Canyon Village to North Kaibab is the best option.

Re: Grand Canyon Access

Get Grand Canyon chart Landing at Bar10 is good ,south rim at Grand Canyon west is limited to landing and looking over the canyon from plastic observation deck. Land at Grand Gulch and hike to your canent . Land at Grand Canyon national and you can hike on approved trails. Cliff Dwellers has some good trails, L 25 Meadview ,AZ is where I go a lot . There a number of strips not on the map--- but be carful inside the National Park + Heavy fines on BLM land is OK .

Re: Grand Canyon Access

There is a ranch you can stay at for a fee at Bar ten! If I had more time in March during my little trip then I would have stopped there. You can stay in a covered wagon and have a pretty yummy looking meal! Goodluck!
