Grand Canyon Airstrip; Tuweep L50

Got this today from the New Mexico Pilots Assoc; They are pitching in to support some recent efforts made by the Arizona Pilots Assoc to reopen the Tuweep airstrip that was 6 miles from the north Rim of the Grand Canyon. BCP is a great place to find pilots interested in making this trek:

Read through this and take the short (5 questions) survey. I for one would love to make this a destination (the wife has already indicated she would be too!).

Thanks Robw56 for replying already!

I got it on FB this morning. Filled it out. Let's get the word out and get the survey taken a lot!

Well done!

Survey completed.

Hope to take my teen-aged daughter to Tuweep; she will be about the same age as when I first landed there.

Fly safely!

Re: Grand Canyon Airstrip; Tuweep L50

Done. I added the comment that I first was there back in the mid-70s, by motorhome. We'd driven in, and it was getting late, starting to get dark, and I wanted to get set up before it got too dark to see. I found a nice level place. The next morning, we were surprised by a Bonanza landing within spitting distance of where we were camped--we hadn't realized that there was even an airstrip there! The other particular memory of that trip was the walk to the rim, and being awestruck by the Canyon--first time there.

A while back my son Roy and I camped there for a few nights. We rode our bikes to the rim the first day.

Re: Grand Canyon Airstrip; Tuweep L50

I just checked out the Arizona Pilots Assoc. March newsletter and there is a write up with the survey results. They got a good response to the poll. The efforts to re-open Tuweep continue.

Anyone wanting to read the article can find it here:

Fingers crossed.

I went to the site to add my support and here is what I got.....

"The form Saving Grand Canyon's Tuweep Airstrip is no longer accepting responses.
Try contacting the owner of the form if you think this is a mistake."

I hope that is because it was overloaded with support!!

They received 1571 responses. When you think about it, I'd say they got a pretty good response.
