Way cool! May cross paths if you stop through the Anch/valley area.

Looking forward to following the adventure!

Re: Grassstrippilot & Family: North to Alaska!

Great first day. Picnic at Garden Valley and camping by a lake at Grand Coulee Dam. George came over in his 310 and visited with us. It was great to see him again. Our first BCP visitor! After dinner we made it down to the dam for the laser light show. Next is the border crossing!

Pre departure selfie.

Have a great trip and I wish your family a boat-load of lifetime memories. It's all about the journey. My kids spent most of 25-28 hours back and forth sleeping and playing Guess Who. Can't wait to get your reports and photos.

If you have the opportunity while in Quesnel check out Barkerville. Short flight good paved strip. Reconsrtucted Gold Rush town with lots of really cool stuff. The kids will really like it. Parents too.

That was the plan for this afternoon, but it was hot and bumpy by the time we got here so we called it a day. I hope we can on the way home. Weather is dictating we get a good start in the morning up the trench.

Re: Grassstrippilot & Family: North to Alaska!

FWIW I've always enjoyed the camping at Watson Lake, and I expect it would be comfortable for your kids as well. Nice covered gazebo with picnic table, barrel stove, water and firewood provided, grassy area for tenting under the wing, friendly staff and quite interesting history involving WWII Lend-Lease Aircraft, WASPs, the Alcan, etc. Also likely to be fellow air travelers to connect with. Bring groceries if you can and relax on the field, vs bothering with town. It's a bit late in migration, but I've seen 300 swans on the lake at sunrise.
Blue skies and tailwinds,

Re: Grassstrippilot & Family: North to Alaska!

Day 2: Good weather. Still on track. A little bumpy in the afternoon. Crossed the border into Canada. It went well and we've quickly adjusted to the Canadian way of doing things. We made our planned overnight stop at Quesnel, BC. Lots of pretty country. Cool to see the Rockies to the east and the coastal range to the west.

Last fuel stop before the crossing.

Customs went smoothly. Cleared via phone even with a weapon. Then a picnic on their lawn before continuing on.

Nice facilities at Quesnel. Showers, camp ground, picnic tables, etc. and fast wifi!
