Gravelly Valley overnight trip

Emflys and I spent the night at Lake Pillsbury in Norcal last night. The strip is in good shape despite all the ruts from people spinning donuts out there. You could not have asked for a better evening. We arrived at about 6pm, set up camp and then went and flew for a while. We spotted a bunch of Elk and then landed the strip in the width of it a couple times. I'm sure Emmet has a bunch more pics to add. Overall an awesome trip. Round trip with the stop in Willows and some playing Saturday evening was 198NM's and 4 hours on the hobbs.

All packed up and ready to go

The strip.. it's pretty big as far as dirt strips go

Great pics Avid, looks like you guys had a good time! I thought about flying across the valley to say hi but had a half dozen fun things to do this weekend and could only get to so many.

What's the verdict on Willows? Good chow these days/worth the trip?

Re: Gravelly Valley overnight trip

Its a fun place for nice camping and general farting around. The strip is HUGE so you can just land any which old way. Joey I just ended up landing the width of the strip after a while.

This was a great time to go (late spring/early summer) before its too hot, dry and dusty. Couldn't ask for a nicer camp spot.

I got some decent video on the tailcam I will edit and post soon.

Here are some of my favorite pics off my cam and a link to the album http://picasaweb.google.com/emmetw/GravellyValleyTrip?authkey=Gv1sRgCLjGuI2difyZzAE&feat=directlink

Loks like a cool spot so I had to check my maps to locate it. Ahah!- just northeast of Ukiah. What kind of daytime temps around nthere this time of year? Any wildlife spotted?

Looks good you guys! I like the chair carrying picture, so that is what that little strut is for?! I'd have jury struts even if I didn't need them, they are so handy for tying things to.

It has been rain, rain, and more rain here. I am sure others in my area have noticed, a real persistant low pressure system just camped out over the area, I'll quit whining now.

As long as that systems gone by the 23rd or so Tom!

Hotrod - it will easily get into the upper 90's there in the summer. Maybe even push 100. Its not there yet, and was nice.

Lots of Elk around. Two big herds grazing on the other side of the strip we saw. Good fishing too I think.
