Greetings from Mid-Michigan!!!!

Howdy!!!

Just wanted to give a quick shout out and hello to everyone!!!

I'm not really a backcountry pilot candidate - we have no mountainous valleys to fly into, no mesas to buzz and land on....but what we do have is a lot of grass strips - so I'm on the fringe!!!

But honestly the MAIN reason I registered was because of the PASSIONATE LOVE of the Taylorcraft that is expressed by many here!!! I'm learning in a BC12-D (A-65) with a very tiny old man (150#/80 year old) CFII.

I mention tiny because weight is a consideration for me - I'm 5'8" and 240# - all chest and shoulders - logs for legs and yes....the man-boobs and gut have hit me in the last 5 years - I plan to lose that - for every 6 pounds of Man-mammary I shed is another gallon of reserve or 1/4 of an hour of flight for me.

I mention the 80 years old because.....well......dang he's old....but he's sharp as a razor and takes no sshhiitt!!!

I should mention that Sport Pilot is my only option - a well respected AME advised me that there was a 10-20% chance that my class III medical COULD be denied - depending on WHO looked at it and how they were feeling that day......I'm not willing to wager that 20% chance against a possible medical denial, so I will gladly take all the ribbing in terms of losing weight - although I've been within 5 pounds for close to 20 years....6# of baby bump is another gallon of gas.

Anyway.....TAYLORCRAFT - there are many that are near me that are for sale, they're not show planes, but a $12,000-$15,000 price tag really impresses me. As does the ability to upgrade by STC to an 85hp.....then STC the engine to 97hp by Don's Dream Machine crank conversion STC!!! - but all that will come in stages.

SO......expect lots of questions from me to those of you with T-Crafts.......

Other than that just know that chicks dig me and fish fear me.

I grew up in Mio, up on the Ausable. Lots of places to land and things to see from the air in MI. Enjoy the adventure!

I float the Ausable often and wade from Twin Bridges MORE often!!! I caught my first trout on a fly there!!!!

Your address in Munsterville wouldn't be 1313 Mockingbird Lane would it??? :)

Welcome, we are happy to have another pilot in the group. The T-craft is a nice plane from what I have seen of them.
Its all about the flying.
