Re: HARRISON FORD: Just Another Pilot

That is the single best explanation for recreational flying ever at the start of that video. Thanks. Unfortunately my Google selected ads at the bottom were the four major warning signs of heart attack. It sort of loses something with that. Why is it never the girls in the bikinis?

Re: HARRISON FORD: Just Another Pilot

Just another pilot is a major understatement......

His hangar for one of his Huskies is next to mine at KJAC. We chat on occasion and he lives and breaths aviation.. He has landed at my private airport probably more times then I have .. Several times I have seen him fly here in his Citation, driving from the left seat, hit the FBO for a pitstop and drink of water and hop in the Husky for a lap round the valley, then he heads home........................ The guy is eat up with flying.... 8) 8)

Nice video! Looks like he has found the true love and freedom of flying! I don't know if Harrison reads any of these BCP Topics, but I would like him to know how much we appreciate his efforts and support in General Aviation! MF

Re: HARRISON FORD: Just Another Pilot

About 10 years ago I had stopped for fuel at Santa Paula,Can. (Szp). I was dragging out fuel hose when Big Beaver on An fib floats taxied up . Harrison Ford climbed out and came over and offered to help --Wow . When we finished with my 182 I went over to help him fuel the Beaver --really nice guy. :D

I ran into him at Catalina a few years back. He parked his Caravan next to my 182. He was taking his mom out for a buffalo burger on a Sunday afternoon. Such a good son!

Re: HARRISON FORD: Just Another Pilot

I guess what I've always liked about him is his down-home, unassuming manner--doesn't appear to be full of himself, like so many Hollywood types. Unlike some "celebrity pilots", he seems to work to be the best pilot that he can be. Of course, it would be nice to have the bucks to own what he owns, right? :)

Was flying Air Tach on a fire just south of Hamilton MT, was using the FBO's old Olds 88 crew car, When he came in there that was his preferred ride. They called it his car!! He is pretty down to earth!

Where's "Briley, Idaho?" I grew up 60 miles south of Burley & it looks similar to there. .

Just thought this was odd.

& yes know people who have met/dealt with Mr. Ford in aviation. All speak highly. The one said just never ask him about what film he could possibly be working on.

Think he said "Ririe" which isn't too far from Jackson.

Glad to see Ford wearing Gumps choice of "old school Bose". There must be something to those 1st generation headsets.

edit: Scratch the above... he does say "Briley" on 2nd view-

Re: HARRISON FORD: Just Another Pilot

The video is 20 years old. 1st gen Bose was state of the art at the time.

How are you able to determine that? I don't remember video that high quality being possible in 1992.

Re: HARRISON FORD: Just Another Pilot

Two ways:

a) Han Solo is 70 years old now. Does the dude look 70 in the video to you? Google up a recent photo and compare.

b) He's wearing 1st gen Bose headset circa 1992.

I am 99% sure he didn't own that Beaver 20 years ago...

Re: HARRISON FORD: Just Another Pilot

Six Days Seven Nights was released in 1998. He had comissioned the Beaver to be built/restored after he flew one in the movie, IIRC-
