Heading out East...

Leaving this morning for my migration to the East Coast...going the southern route. It's been great flying with all of you Sierra Flyers.

I'll post updates long the way and and a full TR once my girl is settled at her new home...

Bowtie - We are planning on heading through NW Arkansas...we were going to stop at Gastons for the night, but if you've got a better offer and you're on the way...who am I to say no? I'll PM ya...

Ohio is definitely in the cards, hopefully this spring...can't make it this week, time-limited, but for sure in the near future!

New homebase will be inside the FRZ at VKX :roll: ...not ideal, but closer to home.

Re: Heading out East...

Jeremy, I picked up my PA-12 at 2W5, not to far south of there. The guy I bought it from hangared a 180 at Potomac. Former Park Service chopper jockey. I put him on to an M-4 in Utah, which I believe he is now restoring in DC. He's also a CFI, which might be handy for your biannuals and such. PM me if you'd be interested in an introduction.

Flying out of the FRZ a single time without an F-16 escort was a major achievement for this Wyoming hick. Based on some of the airspace I'm guessing you've flown, the FRZ restrictions will barely rank as low-grade nonsense for you.

Tailwinds on your trip east, and best wishes for your time out there. Don't let much time pass before getting to know the OBP guys. No matter how quickly you get there, you'll wish you had done it sooner!

Tom Weiss perished in a mid-air collision October 12, 2014. He was an enthusiastic and beloved contributor here for close to 10 years, and he will be missed greatly.

Re: Heading out East...

260driver;
Drop over to KMRB when you get a chance. I flew with the Ohio Bush Planes (OBP) thru our West Virginia tour in October. You may love the different terrain and some interesting "backcountry" destinations in my state and neighboring areas.
I soloed many, many years ago at VKX. I've got the FRZ pin# to get into CGS; from there its a short walk to the DC Metro and then the DC Mall museums, etc.

OldCuby/Mr. Newton,
Just wanted to check in and say hello. I've met you a few times at the open house at the guard. Hopefully you have had a chance to make it into my strip in Gerrardstown. Dad thought he saw a cub flying low I wasn't sure if it was you or Rich. Your more than welcome anytime just watch the power lines on the west side. Same goes for you 260Driver. PM or call if you want coordinates

Re: Heading out East...

Hi Trebor,
In my flying rounds this evening, I stopped by Richy's strip and after a visit, I landed at your Dad's strip on the way home. I was in there for the first time several weeks ago. Nice smooth grass, thanks. Let's get together some time. I hope we can meet 260Driver down the road.
