Helitorch helicopter shot down in Idaho

I can't believe this. I have flown in fire fighting helicopters during hunting season for 38 years and always wondered if someone would try to do this. I think it is time for me to quit.

Wow! To bad he didn't see where they guy was, I think I might have had a torch malfunction in that situation had I had a visual on him. Glad the pilot wasn't injured or worse.

We were excited to heli in Silverton — until we saw the bird. Looking like something your stoner uncle built in the garage out of four Meccano sets, a fish tank, and an AMC Pacer, this helicopter seats a pilot plus two only, making it a tricky vehicle, logistics-wise, when your group has 8 people in it. "A suspect has been identified and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is working with our agency to determine the appropriate charges," How about Attempted Murder!!!

That happened to a plane here in Utah when I was in High School. I always wondered how stupid someone would have to be to do that. I would like to check out the leaves in the mountains, but being hunting season, I have been flying in the desert lately.

Hope they fry this Moron!

I used to race my dirt bike at a track called the Fossil Bowl right outside of Clarkia when I was in high school. Sad to say but I bet it was just a redneck that said hey hold my beer and watch this. I bet he never thought he'd hit it. Scary stuff...makes me think twice about flying really low around the mountains around here....there be pot growing in them there hills I'm sure

Re: Helitorch helicopter shot down in Idaho

I was flying along the southeast foothills of the Olympics last saturday (deer season opener) and saw a rig & a guy in hunter orange way up at the end of a logging road on the top of a hill. The thought that he might decide to take a potshot at me crossed my mind briefly.
I'm surprised that those animal rights people who go out and "haze" hunters have the nerve to do so, and that they don't seem to ever get shot at. I haven't heard about any of these hazing incidents lately, so maybe some of them guys did get potted.

There are a lot of nutballs out there who don't necessarily think before they act, and they hate just about everyone.

And, a pretty significant percentage of those folks live in Idaho. No offense to the honest, hard working Idahoans out there, but there are a lot of rabid anti-everything types in that state for some reason or other.

Hopefully, the shooter will meet his just reward shortly.

Hanging would be too nice, in my opinion.

No offense taken. But, there's nutballs in every state. There's one from Missouri on another thread on this forum!

you don't need to worry about pot growers in Montana with the new med weed law, the old State nursery is now one of the main growers, i think even my ahole neighbour is growing it in his green house. the first thing prison people do when they get out is get a card.

MTV,
You are correct in your summation of Idaho's percentage of nutballs. Spread the word. No one in their right mind would want to live in this far West tick fever ridden hellhole. The more people that have your opinion (NO offense taken BTW) the less may choose to move here!

As a born and bred lifelong Pee-Ay resident, I must protest. Our great commonwealth's large nutball population has a nearly 300-year history and can stand with pride next to any other state's population of people with...unconventional opinions. :D :D
