If I was going to try that Id gas it rite up and aim it out to sea and hope they never found the wreck. risking it crashing in a populated area and then having no body in the plane is not exactly the perfect crime.

If he was looking to get away from the law living is Alabama and with a Piper Malibu. I Would've took what money I had left and flown to Cuba. Pay some people there so you can stay. Get a nice place and kick it. You'll get to keep the plane too.

Reminiscent of the car dealer character in "Fargo". A really stupid plan that only got worse as it went along. At least no one got hurt.

Wow.. How desperate does a man have to be in his life to dream up a plan like this and actually go through with it! Kinda reminds me of that movie double jeopardy.

Trevdog,

Kinda reminds me of my retired, fighter pilot buddy who always carried an ancient, Gold Certificate $1,000.00 bill on his person. His idea was to buy help from friendlies, should he have ever been shot down.

I asked him...."why would they not just take your $1,000.00 and then walk away?" He gave me a blank stare!

He must be real desperate if he wrecked a perfectly good airplane but at least he got a last skydive out of it!

If that plane had gone down in an elementary school and taken out a bunch of kids you can bet GA would be grounded ASAP... What a waste of a good plane..

Cessna Skywagon -- accept no substitute!

The results of this are on numerous news sites. They found the guy in a campground. He had slit his wrists and was laying in a tent trying to die when he was arrested. He's in a world of crap now and facing numerous charges.
