I'm an owner of a C120 with an O-290-D. My engine is a little over 1/2 TBO, but I'd like to start thinking about options. I don't plan to automatically replace/overhaul when TBO comes, but I'd like to be prepared.
I've always thought an O-360 would be a riot, but likely overkill. I've heard great things about 150/150s and it seems like that would also be a great option for a 120/140, especially considering the motor mount would be the same as my O-290. Obviously an STC would need to be developed, but I'm willing to work on that.
I recently saw a post about an O-320 making 209hp. Seems excessive, but not entirely impossible. Anyone have any experience with the higher strung O-320s? Are they reliable long term? What kind of fuel burn do they see? Ok for certified, or experimental only?
Thoughts/experiences welcomed.
Thanks,
