So... 60 to 80 airspeed, what's the rate of descent? I understand they are reaching about a 3 to 1 glide, I'll do the math later. This guys energy management skills are awesome, and how handy to have that short wing span for squeaking through canyons? His skill at coming up with new points of views/camera mount positions, considering he has no lift struts or airframe to speak of, is impressive also. Also, though not shown, think about what he went through to FIND these sites, and then GET to the launch site, also impressive.
He was the cover shot of the latest Air and Space mag, and he is hoping to be the first to LAND without popping the chute! And yes, he wants to do it more then once. Something about an inclined landing ramp, sort of like a ski jump, and in order to pay for the expense he is hoping to tie in with some (where else) Las Vegas promoters, an Evel Kneivel type thing. This landing thing is keeping him awake at nights, he is fixated on doing it. I had the thought he needs to go flying with those doing steep hill plane landings, just to get some kind of sight picture as to how it looks. Couldn't hurt anyway, bad choice of words.
