Holiday Sale on Cloudbase Engineering GoPro Mounts

Hello All,

Do you have a GoPro camera and are looking to find a great way to get your video out of the cockpit and onto the wingstrut or wing cabane? The FAA recently changed its stance on the use of external GoPro cameras so the worry of what the FAA thinks is now a thing of the past. I have been testing this product for over 8 years and selling it as a product for the last 4 with many sold and not a single incident of a camera even budging in flight. I am a private pilot myself with a background in designing products for the film industry so I merged my love for flying and my design skills for the film industry and developed this product. The mount is machined from custom 6061 aluminum extrusions. The camera mounts to a professional camera ball mount to help set up the shot and maintain the cameras stability. The design is such that it will work with various sized chord length and leading edge shaped struts since the mounts rubber feet contact the strut at tangent points to the Radii. This design allows the mount to have a wider range of uses between aircraft since it does not rely on matching the exact profile of the strut to work. The mount is sold in various versions shown below. If you happen to fly more than one aircraft I can put a package together to add additional strap sets for use on a single mount.

The breakdown is below:

Cessna: $135 plus $5 shipping. (Holiday price $125 shipped within USA, other locations please inquire)
C1 Cessna 140a through 175, Stinson 108 series and Glassair Sportsman.
I even put this on a Christen eagle 'I" Strut
C2 Cessna 180 & 182
C3 Cessna 185 through Strutted 210

Piper: $115 plus $5 shipping (Holiday price $105 shipped within USA, other locations please inquire)
P1 Piper J3, J4 (likely others, I have to find more to test) J5?

Aviat Husky $115 plus $5 shipping (Holiday price $105 shipped within USA, other locations please inquire)
H1 Aviat Husky

Aeronca: 115 plus $5 shipping (Holiday price $105 shipped within USA, other locations please inquire)
A1 Champ, Citabria
A2 Aeronca K
A3 Decathlon (not sure yet, but looking for a decathlon to try, Inquire if your interested to test)

Carbon Cub: Cubcrafters sells a version of my mount specifically designed for the Carbon Cub. I gave them exclusivity on this version so please visit cubcrafters if you have a Carbon cub. However, if you already own a CarbonCub mount but want the ability to use it on other aircraft listed above, contact me and I will sell you the additional items to outfit the other aircraft.

New version available soon and already tested on aircraft listed below:
Currently in production and will be available late December or early January. I am putting people on a list to contact when it’s available so feel free to contact me to get on the list.

Cessna 120 and 140 (non a model 140)
Bearhawk (all versions) (see video below)
Rans (All versions)
Piper short wing
Piper J2, PA-11, PA-12
Zenair CH750 Cruzer, CH701, CH750 and Savannah
Taylorcraft
Interstate Cadet, L6
Kitfox (currently in evaluation at Kitfox aircraft)
Supercub, Top Cub and Legend cub
Stearman, Waco and jungmeister
And just about any 46 era strutted aircraft

Also the mount can be configured to work with anything tubular so long as the rubber points contact at the tangent to the tube. Cessna & J3 front clamp range is 1.1" to 3" diameter tubing. To do so may require a strap change to match with the diameter of your tubing. I have used it on the following: Motorcycle forks, Hanglider, Ultralight, Sailboat mast, ATV roll bars and tubular bumpers, Gocart, Hot Air Balloon upper burner frame, Mountain bike tubing, Wakeboard boat tower. Converting the mount from Strut configuration to Tubular configuration takes less than a minute.

There is a bit of jello in this video since Mike is working the throttle quite a bit and the frequency of vibration is changing suddenly.

BCPs,

I purchased my strut mount from Marc and have used it on the 185 for almost 2 years. Super easy to use. I love the strap that holds it securely in place and yet allows removal of the mount in about 3 seconds. Very high quality product.

Marc,

I would like to purchase additional straps for a Husky A-1B please. Thanks!!!!

Hello Gregg,

I will just send one out to you. Husky configuration omits the rear clamp and a special designed strap is installed on the front clamp.

You still at same Soldotna Address?

Take care,

Can you tell me more about this? I missed it and have been laboring under the misapprehension that it was still technically forbidden.

Hi Marc,
Looks like there is a lot of interest in your mount which is great. With the Husky I hope to get some fun video. I imagine I will use the camera more on the husky than the 185, and it will be nice to have the option to mount to either plane.

Still at same address in Soldotna. Thanks! Gregg

Marc,

In an earlier post you note that versions for the Piper PA 11 are in development. I THOUGHT the struts on the PA 11 are the same dimensions as the PA 18. Is this not true? Have you tried the 18 model on an 11?

I have never tried a DH2, but did try a Brousard and the struts leading edge radii was too large and outside my mounts range. I have a template I can send you in PDF form that you can print 1:1 and cut out and see if it will fit a DH2? Also even if it did not fit the main strut, there as a good chance it will fit the other airfoil tubing on the float supports.

If you PM me your email address I will send you the template. Also can I get the Chord Length of the strut and its max thickness for a rough idea?

Take care,

Marc

Hey MTV,

I believe your correct is Strut profiles between the Pa11 and Pa18. However, I don't have either version available just yet. The extrusion die was just finished and they will be running me material next week so with machining and anodize i am looking at end of December or Early January. I'm putting a list together of those interested in a mount for aircraft on my soon to be released list.

Also I see your Avitar and I do have a a version in stock for that nice 170 of yours? You can even mount it on the Floats spreader as well for fun.

Take care,

Marc

Marc,

Thanks for the response. I no longer have the 170......traded it for the Cub a year ago. I need to change my avatar, I reckon.

In any case, I may be interested in one for the cub....

Hey MTV,

If you have a J3 or J4 I have the mounts in stock. If any other Cub then it would end up using the new version about to be released at end of this month.

Hello Loogie,

The Maule is one I have not had a chance to try yet. I have had a few requests and sent out a template in PDF form to those interested so they can see which version of my mount will fit. If you like, I can send you the same template. if you PM me your email address, I will email you the template with some instructions.
