Hover bike

Sometimes the most fun way to get into the backcountry, Part 103 Ultralights and Light Sport Aircraft have their own considerations.

Hover bike

Still a prototype, this looks like it could be a lot of fun.

Re: Hover bike

"this is proving to be not as sensitive as one would expect or like." The Aussies come up with some gooders!

At a glance

•Airspeed Vne - 150 KIAS (untested)
•Hover (out of ground effect) - >10,000ft (estimated)
•Dry weight - 110kg
•Max gross weight - 270kg
•Total thrust - 295kg
•Engine - 80kw @ 7500rpm
Hoverbike Applications

•Aerial Cattle mustering
•Search and Rescue
•Aerial Survey
•Wildlife and Parks
•Film
•Power-line Inspection

I want to see the cattle mustering part. The way gas prices are, that might be my next airplane.

Good business model: Raise 1.1MM. When done, flip old bicycle over, weld and old gunked up lawnmower engine to frame, install two RC propellers, extend chain and connect the whole shebang. Send that prototype to someone who wants to build free multi engine time (might need two lawnmower engines)for testing.
Ship postal ground! You'll be retired on a nice Finca in Cuba when the lucky owner hits the news or gets the Darwin award.

Just kidding, this thing looks pretty swift. Needs floats, though...

Re: Hover bike

Looks pretty cool. The Hiller Flying Platform was stable and had all the pilot weight above the fan... so it can be stable/controllable with a high CG. And a ballistic chute sounds like a REAL good addition as they say.

It looks like they are doing this in a reasonably conservative manner... kudos to that.

That all being said, when it's the safety of my fat ass involved, I'll still take Bernoulli over Sikorsky [-o<

Re: Hover bike

Ha ha ha, "aerial cattle mustering", yeah the cattle will be easier to handle while they are rolling on the ground laughing their asses off!

No power off soaring I take it? How about dead stick landings?
