How fast does an EGT gauge refresh?

How fast should an analog EGT gauge register a change in mixture? Seems like the gauge in the Bearhawk takes forever to register a change, like minutes. Only other experience I have with EGTs are on my snowmobile and they register changes immediately but they are digital.

For all intents and purposes, an analog EGT is pretty instantaneous. The thermocouple response is 100's of milliseconds out in the exhaust stream, and the voltmeter (temperature readout) is just damped. The needle is usually done moving within 2 seconds or so.
The digital ones will usually update at least a few times a second.

Something must not be working then. It defiantly takes more than a few seconds to move.
