Re: How hard can it be???

Yea, that check airman in the right seat (note 4 stripes) was flying 3/4 pilot. You know, single pilot, 2 pilot crew, 3//4 pilot, what we called it when it would be easier to fly alone. Probably the most hazardous flight the guy in the right seat had flown in his whole career if you factor in the chance of getting shot or life in prison for saying the wrong thing.

Commie propaganda. Has it ever really progressed? Ha.

Well at least he remembered to feed the pilot. Gives a new whole new meaning to "Will fly for food."

Now that's funny! Thanks Evan cause I hate to admit this but I have no idea what the point of this video is.

Re: How hard can it be???

Well boil my kimchee, the great leader are a jet pilit.
The PNF (pilit not flyin) runs the throttles on an approach in the Russian system of doing things. I love the little guy trying to hide from the camera to the left of the LFG (little fat guy).
We had to use a naviagtor into the USSR years ago who was a bit of a cynic. In fact I don't know how he qualified as a party member.
He loved the FMS's in our Lear 55, he said the ones they had in their long range airplanes were accurate to 10 miles.

Looked like he was getting a bad case of "headset hair" in that snappy hairdo of his.
Doesn't anyone in the PDR of North Korea know how to give a proper haircut?

Love the way he confidently flips through the checklist and then puts both hands on the yoke. Come fly UNAir! The jet with UNhair!

Reminds me of the Wing Exec at EDF what seems like hundreds of years ago when I was on EAD. One of my clients was an F-4 check pilot, and somehow the Wing Exec had gotten jet-qualified in his earlier years. So to keep up his hours in order to collect the extra flight pay, he went up with my client every so often. My client said it was "just flat scary to fly with him", as he'd do all sorts of things "that the average Cessna pilot wouldn't think of doing". Since I hadn't learned to fly yet, I didn't know what exactly he was describing, but for an experienced fighter jock to describe it as "scary" said it all.

It's propaganda for internal consumption, not external. There are two parts to it. First is that NK builds a cult of personality around the Kim family and part of that is showing them being involved with everything (here's Dad personally supervising all kinds of aspects of the economy: http://kimjongillookingatthings.tumblr.com/). They are all knowing gods in their world view and without them the country would crumble so, of course, Kim knows how to fly an airplane (even though, as is made clear by the pitch of the announcers voice, that's an amazingly difficult thing to do).

Second, Kim actually does seem to have an interest in aviation. So this was an excuse for him to sit left seat in a cool plane. If there weren't any perks to being supreme leader no one would want the job. ;-)
